As a Fire and Life Safety Educator for the Rochester Hills Fire Department, I consider the HomeAware an essential. In a city where our senior population outnumbers our school-aged children, providing effective alerting solutions is a top priority.

I upgraded to this Homeaware II unit from a Clarity Alertmaster system. I love it, it does so many things that my old system could not do. It has a built in carbon monoxide and smoke detector that are compatible with our interconnected carbon monoxide and smoke detectors. It has a HomeAware app which allows me to easily change settings and alarm clock times on my cell phone. It has two separate alarm settings which works great for having to get up at different times during the week. Instead of resetting the alarm time multiple times a week, I can just turn each alarm time on or off. Best of all, the customer support via email is absolutely amazing. Sonic Alert has answered all my questions very quickly and accurately since I bought the unit. Only con I can think of is that sometimes the bluetooth connection to my cell is disconnected more than it is connected. But it is easily fixed by unplugging the rechargeable battery inside the unit and plugging it back in.

My daughter went off to college this year and she is hard of hearing, so I have always had a plan in place that I would have to warn her about the smoke alarms if they went off when she took out her hearing aids to sleep at night. It was really stressful for me to think of her being at school and possibly not hearing the fire alarm in her dorm if it goes off. I purchased the HomeAware for her dorm and it has really helped me feel more comfortable. We chose the added subscription service to help me sleep at night, because I like the idea of getting a text message if her device is going off. Luckily, we have not used it yet, but I will say that it is helping ease some of my empty nester nerves!
